Artist Residency, LeftCoast

Description

We are seeking applications from artists who work in a socially responsive way who would be interested in relocating to Blackpool or Fleetwood for a long term live/work artist residency on two local housing estates.

This brief is for the second phase of our long term live/work residencies. We have had two artists undertaking residencies with us since July 2018, which have developed our thinking around the programme in different ways. Through living and working in the micro locality of each residency house they have helped us develop a deeper understanding and connection to the area and it is from this foundation that we wish to recruit two new artists or artists collaborations for the next 12 months of the programme. We are continuing to test the idea of what happens when artists become part of a neighbourhood, rather than visiting a place, and whether this shapes practice to enable the outcome to become more socially useful.
