Assistant Storage Manager, The British Museum

Description

The British Museum is recruiting for an Assistant Storage Manager to assist in the process of packing, moving and re-storing the Museum’s ethnographic collections in the World Conservation and Exhibition Centre (WCEC).

The post-holder will observe best practice in all aspects of collections storage and object handling, including maintaining storage areas and demonstrating an awareness of environmental conditions. This role will also involve supervising and assisting with the training of volunteers to the department.

The ideal candidate will have experience of object handling and object storage in a museum environment, as well as experience of museum documentation procedures and collections databases. Educated to A-level, or equivalent, practical skills in the moving, packing and re-storing of objects and an understanding of best practice will be essential.

We are looking for a highly motivated and strong team worker who is able to use initiative and time manage effectively. With a flexible attitude, you will be confident in liaising with a variety of stakeholders across the Museum.
