AUDITION: DANCER, #goggledance, Voxed (Wayne Parsons)

Description

Wayne Parsons is looking for a dancer with strong technical, performing and improvisation skills for the creation and performance of a fun and accessible new site-specific pop-up piece called #goggledance. #goggledance will be performed outside, with the audience watching from their homes.

Professional contemporary dance/physical theatre training and a strong physical presence are essential. We are interested to hear from dancers with additional dance skills to make the work accessible and exciting for audiences. This could include hip hop, commercial, bollywood, lindy hop, ballroom, musical theatre or social dance styles. Some of the performance will be participatory, so a willingness to guide audiences through a journey is key.

The solo performance is designed to be performed safely under lockdown/social distancing conditions, and will be devised jointly by the performer and Artistic Director. The performance is co-produced with Stephen Joseph Theatre and will pop up in five locations in Scarborough this summer. Please note all performances take place in North Yorkshire and performers will need to travel to North Yorkshire for the performances. We’ll take the necessary health and safety measures regarding travel.

We are an equal opportunity employer committed to a diverse workforce and actively welcome applications and questions from dancers of all backgrounds inclusive of race, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, disability, gender, age and religion. Applicants are required to have UK working rights.

Audition will take place online via Zoom on 23 July. Audition is by invitation only; successful applicants will be notified of audition details by email. Rehearsals and performances will take place this August.

To apply, please send a CV, headshot and link to a recent performance video or showreel to goggledanceaudition@gmail.com by Friday 17 July. We encourage videos showcasing your devising skills and additional dance skills – self-filmed videos clearly showing your physical and performing skills are welcome.
