Open Call for Artists - Public Art Commission, Junction Arts

An opportunity has arisen for a creative or team of creatives to produce a visually engaging and inspiring public realm artwork for a housing development in Hull.

Junction Arts are supporting Strata Homes to commission an exceptional artist who will design, deliver and install a new public realm artwork for a development of 241 dwellings. The development consists of a mix of 2, 3 and some 4 bedroom family properties at Boothferry Road, Hull.

Project Brief
For 56 years Boothferry Park was home to Hull City Football Club, many of the streets are named after areas of the stadium, club colours and past players.
Whilst the site is historically significant for the residents of Hull and will be, perhaps forever synonymous with football, the public realm artwork should take inspiration from the site’s history and not become a memorial which discourages the use of open space. The proposed site for the public artwork is the centre spot of the football pitch invoking themes of dreams, possibilities, hope and aspiration. Boothferry Park was ‘home’ to many people for a long time and is now home to families, living and playing in this space. The public realm artwork should look to the future, more than it looks to the past.

Deadline for applications: 9am Monday 6th April 2020
Interviews held in Hull on 23rd April 2020
