Professional Actors, Barbican Theatre (Plymouth)



Following our three previous productions, A Midsummer Night’s Dream (2015), Romeo & Juliet (2016) and Twelfth Night (2017) Barbican Theatre (Plymouth) is producing an outdoor production of Macbeth in summer 2018. We are seeking professional actors with a strong local connection for this highly visual, unusual and accessible production.

Macbeth will be the fourth production in our extremely popular annual ‘Bard in the Yard’ programme, running outdoors at the extraordinary Royal William Yard site, adjacent to Plymouth’s historic waterfront. Our three previous productions were hugely successful and played to an average of 78% houses.

The production is part of our commitment to creating high quality, accessible work with a commitment to supporting and developing local talent. We are particularly interested in performers with excellent physical skills.  Musical ability will also be an advantage.

Key dates:

  • Actor auditions: 19 & 20 April (possible call backs w/c 23 April)
  • Rehearsals from: 2 July (4 weeks)
  • Production dates: 31 July – 11 August (14 performances)

Fees: Equity guidelines apply. 6 week contract.
