Bookmark Competition: THIS DIFFERENCE

The Responsa Foundation curates contemporary art projects exploring our intolerance to others. This is our first project, marking  the 75 anniversary of the Holocaust with a focus on the burning of books and what this signified. Everyone is unique and experiences their own sense of being different and this project explores what this means to you.

We invite you to create a bespoke bookmark exploring your own sense of being different and how this affects you personally. We would like you to submit this image alongside a short text (no more than one side of A4) in response to the project’s title This Difference. We will then select a short list of winning designs to print in large numbers as bookmarks.

The winning bookmarks will be displayed as an exhibition at the Wiener Library in Russell Square alongside a video by the internationally renowned video artist, Alicia Felberbaum, featuring all winning artists. Due to the Covid crisis the date of the launch will be announced in due course.

Should you be selected, your name (and any website/social media handle) plus an excerpt from your text will be printed on the reverse side of your bookmark. Large numbers of these will then be distributed to a wide network of bookstores and libraries and available for free to the public.

Deadline: December 31 2020
