Casting & Sculpting in Jesmonite Course, London Sculpture Workshop

This two day course will explore the different applications of Jesmonite. Working with thixotrope, retardant and quadaxical glass. Participants will have the opportunity to work with Jesmonite hands on, constructing simple shapes through three basic forms of mould making.

Day 1

- Introduction to the material, experimentation with fairly quick mould making techniques using, clay, sheet steel and wood. Students are welcome to bring their own moulds to use if desired. Each student will make three forms with the intention of joining them together using Jesmonite.

Day 2

- Students will be encouraged to continue experimenting making forms, with the focus on finishing processes including texture, colour and surface. Participants will also have the opportunity to work with quadaxical glass.
