Drawing with Silverpoint, Barnoon Workshop, St.Ives

Description

Silverpoint or Metalpoint is an exquisite technique, famously used by renaissance artists including Hans Holbein The Younger and Albrecht Durer.

This drawing technique uses real silver and other metals to make images. Drawing on specially prepared surfaces, delicate and responsive results can be achieved, with a soft sheen and permanent finish. The drawings can then be tinted with water colours , inks or gouache

During this workshop with Zoe Eaton, learn how to prepare a variety of paper surfaces and gesso boards, explore the use of tools and metals including silver, bronze and aluminium, and experiment with mark making techniques. During the afternoon we will work on a final drawing, on a gesso panel, in your own style - adapting the technique for contemporary works.

Costs £50 inc materials and refreshments.  Email us to book or get further details from our website
