Description

Back To the Future: The Avant-Garde Is an Address is the title of Ellen Carey’s lecture for the Royal Photographic Society on Monday, 20 May 2019.  Her lecture will contextualize photography as a visual art and game-changer at the forefront of the avant-garde.

In her own words: 'abstraction in photography and lens-based art presents a contradiction in terms, and minimalism presents a further oxymoron. It is here, in the early stages of modern and contemporary art with its roots in photography, that my work has a context.'

Find out how this translates into her photographic practice.

Tickets for the lecture are free, but to help us manage numbers they should be booked in advance.

The lecture is supported by the Chloe Johnson Imagery Fund.
