New Creatives - Call 4 - Open for Film and Audio Commissions, Screen South


New Creatives is an exciting new talent development scheme that offers commissioning opportunities for emerging artists to create new artistic works in film, or audio or interactive media, designed for BBC platforms. We are looking for emerging talent with strong creative ideas and a drive to create and deliver their commissions.

Who can apply?
We are looking for South East based emerging talent with strong creative ideas and a drive to create and deliver their commissions. Artists must be aged 16-30 and want to develop their original creative idea into a professional short film or audio media work. New Creatives can come from any artistic discipline including, but not limited to, any or all of the following - Dance, Performance, Comedy, Poetry, Spoken-word, Music, Rap, Writing, Film, Animation, Art, Visual Art, Storytelling and Game Design, as well as non-arts backgrounds, you don’t need experience in film, audio or interactive to apply. We welcome proposals from artists of all backgrounds, including those from minority ethnic groups, those who consider themselves to be disabled and those who are currently underrepresented in media and the visual arts.

What ideas are we looking for?
We’re open to creative and thought provoking ideas for new works that are fresh and innovative proposals for short films, audio and interactive media which reflects on living in modern Britain in some way. Tonally, they can be serious, comedic, absurd, challenging, provocative, abstract or polemic. We’re looking for creatives to push the boundaries on what constitutes art, makes people think, and encourages new ways of understanding ourselves and the world we live in. We can accept any ideas that are not journalism or current affairs documentary.
