Tuesday 24th September – Saturday 6th October

Once in a Universe: An Exhibition by Judith Alder

DC1 Gallery & Café

Opens Tues – Sat. 11am to 5pm

Drop in and meet the artist daily between 1 & 2pm.

Using geology and the origins of life as a starting point, artist Judith Alder explores growth, change and evolution in The Anthropocene: The Age of Man.For ten months Alder has worked with other artists, curators and the public to explore ideas about the period we live in, when “it feels impossible to maintain pace with the present, never mind to chart the future."*

The project culminates in a two week residency when Judith will be working live in the gallery, developing new work informed by the notion that perhaps technology is now poised to steer life onto a new evolutionary path, extending from the organic into the inorganic realm.

The residency ends with an Open Day on Saturday 6th October, 11am to 5pm with talks by the artist at 11.30am and 4pm.

Once in a Universe is supported by the National Lottery through Arts Council England, Devonshire West Big Local and East Sussex Arts Partnership.
