Aktualise are thrilled to announce the launch of their first Scratch night - a great opportunity for artists of various genres to share new and developing work!

Aktualise is a theatre company founded in 2018 devoted to making things happen. Our mission is to create new work and build opportunities for emerging theatre makers. This includes hosting open mic events, our monthly Script Club, and most recently, our new work scratch night:

Event Details

We’ll be hosting the event at Mirth, Marvel and Maud, a 160-seat theatre off-west end venue in Walthamstow (E17), on Thursday 7th November at 7.30pm.

The Requirements

We are looking to hear ideas for approximately 10 minute (or shorter) pieces that anyone (companies, individuals etc.) would be interested in presenting. We are looking for a conglomeration of work, styles and genres, so submissions can be scenes, a short play, original monologues, new songs (musical theatre, pop, folk), spoken word, dance, physical theatre and anything in between. IT NEEDN’T BE THE FINISHED PRODUCT. We want to give fellow artists and companies the opportunity to work to a deadline, get their work in front of an audience and receive supportive feedback.

How To Submit

Please send your ideas (these can be as loose as a description, or fully written up extracts) to

More information and the technical specifications can be found on our website on the Scratch Night Submissions are Open page:

The deadline for submissions is Sunday 22nd September

We will be selecting 10 pieces to form the evening, and will be sure to respond to every application shortly after the deadline. Any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us, and we look forward to hearing from you and receiving your submissions!
