Stitched Textiles course, Phoenix Brighton

Description

Over two weekends you will explore composition, scale, colour, contrast, texture, placement, simple piecing, layering and hand quilting of ‘found’ cloth. Develop a series of experimental one off pieces or a small quilt or wall-hanging and be inspired by a wide range of textile artists such as Louise Bourgeois, The Gees Bend quilters, Celia Pym and the ancient art of Japanese ‘Boro’.

The course aims to encourage playfulness and an experimental approach to making. It is suitable for beginners with an interest in textiles, continuing students who want to work on a bigger scale and develop their ideas further, and those with more experience.

It is part of an ongoing Stitched Textiles course at phoenix Brighton but can be taken on its own.

Costs: £160
Days: 2 weekends
Times: 10:30 - 16:30
Dates: 15, 16, 22, 23 June
