Description
The Cooper Prize is a prestigious art competition launched by The Cooper Gallery early this year and celebrates the work of artists at all stages in their career who were born, live or work in South Yorkshire.
In its first year as the Cooper Prize the competition has evolved from its original format of the South Yorkshire Art Competition. Its aim is to celebrate the wealth of artistic talent in the region.
From the entries, shortlisted artworks will be gathered together to feature in an exciting exhibition in the Gallery in 2021.
The most outstanding artwork selected from each category will receive fantastic prizes;
Cooper Prize: £1,000, sponsored by the Cooper Trustees, main gallery exhibition with Cooper Prize finalists & solo exhibition in Sadler Room, 2022
The Sadler Award: £500, sponsored by The Mayor of Barnsley, main gallery exhibition with Cooper Prize finalists & six month use of artist studio in Cooper Cottage (subject to availability)
The Fox Gift (artists under 16): £100 vouchers to spend on artists materials, sponsored by Calder Art Supplies, main gallery exhibition with Cooper Prize finalists
People’s Choice Award: non-monetary prize in the form of a certificate.
The competition closes on the 31 Jan and artwork can be submitted using this form https://my.barnsley.gov.uk/form/cooper-gallery-competition/your-details
