They Come As Trees is a touring exhibition & conversation with works by photographer Nirupam Biswas, consisting of a single framed triptych of black and white, close-up images of trees.
Traveling in and around three independent London cafes, including Highgate forest's Queens Wood Cafe, Notting Hill's The Tin Shed, and Woolidando, Bethnal Green; The framed image, hung over a table for two in each cafe, aims to instigate intimate conversations by bringing people together to talk, to feel and to remember over coffee (+/-) and art.
About this Exhibition
'With age, you start getting to look at a significant part of your past, along with the present, and possibly an intuition of the future. It makes you think and gives perspectives, more so when you are one of the curious kind'. Nirupam Biswas
Whilst on a brooding walk, polaroid photographer Nirupam Biswas walked past a series of trees near Brunswick Square and the concept was born. He saw an affinity towards nature and craved to connect people, through a single piece of art.
With each tree symbolising a person; How it grows into a unique character, how growing up through the seasons put textures on its skin... just like a person's soul and character. And then the proximity of the trees symbolised relationships and connections...how despite our differences we cohabit.
