London Artform: theatre   Contact: Emma Butler

Performing Classical Text, 1:30pm-5:30pm Saturday August 2nd 2014, The Unicorn Theatre

Theatre Sotto Voce are running a 4 hour afternoon workshop on performing classical text, led by rising star Simon Evans. The afternoon will look at the particular challenges of unlocking and performing text in Elizabethan language. ...Taking extracts of Shakespeare, Simon will explore working in iambic pentameter, specifically targeting how to make the text feel and sound natural, and will also look at understanding the language through a series of exercises. The latter half of the afternoon will give actors a chance to work on and be directed in duologues, giving first-hand experience of working on the text and developing characters within the genre.
This workshop is open to actors and directors, directors should come prepared to act.
