This one day symposium presented by Make Your Mark, the arts and health programme for Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, in partnership with Brighton and Sussex Medical School, will explore the potential of drawing in the context of health and wellbeing. The event will consider a range of drawing practices and the way in which they can help us connect, communicate and enhance creativity. The learning from a ‘Year of Drawing’, a site specific mental health drawing project, will be presented alongside insights from other initiatives in the field of drawing and health research and practice.

Combining reflection and action, this symposium sets out to inform practice directly. Our aim is that by the end of the day, delegates from both health and arts settings will have extended their own understanding and commitment to drawing as a tool and be equipped with new ideas and approaches.
