The Northern Theatre Laboratory present a two-day workshop based on the exploration of the relationship between text and the physical actor.
Themes, characters, relationships and intentions from Anton Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard will be brought to life over two-days in physicalised interpretations. Working as an ensemble the group will collaborate to re-discover new potentials of The Cherry Orchard. Most importantly Animikii wish to answer the challenging moral question: can we create interpretations for new work, allowing bold and exciting discoveries to emerge while maintaining the integrity of the source material?
This workshop is open to both artists from a physical and non-physical background of theatre. You will learn techniques in devising, how to approach text physically, and, how to work and collaborate as an ensemble.
