4th August 2018

13:00 - 19:00

Sidney Cooper Gallery, Canterbury

You are invited to join us at the Sidney Cooper Gallery for a celebration of our Micro-Residency Project. This event is just over half way through our 2018 programme and will act as a time for reflection and intention.

With “in conversation” talks with invited guests. These talks are discussion led, surrounding #peerled learning and the importance of sustaining this outside of institutions. We will also discuss the importance of East Kent and its cultural offer.

Following these discussions we will have a variety of activities that help extend this conversation, a great opportunity to meet our 48 selected artists and invited guests.

This free event is going to be filled with an exhibition highlighting elements of this project, bubbly to celebrate and a wonderful contribution from sound artists.

Threads Micro Residency Project

Having delivered over forty visual art critiques across Kent, Threads have identified the opportunity for development that exists in peer-to-peer activity. In answer to this, Threads have curated a nine-month, paid programme of public residences, critiques and salons, supported by local cultural ambassadors. By keeping every event open to the public, the project offers a uniquely different cultural experience for visitors, highlighting East Kent as a must- visit destination for contemporary art.

Thirty-six chosen artists participating in residences at: Sidney Cooper; UCA Brewery Tap ; Ideas Test ; Dover Studio Collective; and Dover Big Local/ Art31 Gallery. A further twelve artists will participate in Salons at the UCA Brewery Tap and the Turner Contemporary
