Carlo Annoni Prize awards new theatre plays on LGBTQ topics and diversity in love.

In the year of the fifth centenary of the death of Leonardo Da Vinci, we dedicate the Carlo Annoni Prize to all those individuals fighting against discrimination due to sexual orientation to see their right to love recognised.

The prize will award € 1000 for 2 plays, one in each of the Prize’s languages (Italian and English).

In addition to this, Carlo Annoni Prize acknowledges that every year many asylum seekers leave their countries because they are victims of persecutions concerning their sexual orientation. A special prize will be awarded to a play that addresses this theme.

The deadline for submissions is 30th April 2019.

Participation is free of charge.

The plays received shouldn’t have been staged at the time of submission. However, we will consider those plays that have already been staged within the last two years, should we deem them suitable. 

The award ceremony will take place in September 2019 in Milan, similar to the one organized at Palazzo Reale for the 2018 edition.

The plays submitted will be comprised in a virtual library accessible on our website ( to make the material available to theatre companies. Participants who wish to have their plays included in the virtual library must express their consent together with their submission. All royalties will remain property of the original author.
