Local women share rarely seen photos for new exhibition, Semblance at Sutton House

Description

Family photos donated by Hackney women are the starting point of a fascinating new exhibition entitled 'Semblance', held at National Trust's Sutton House from July.

Using personal photos, London artist Cherelle Sappleton creates a visual feast that introduces themes of love, loss, identity and family all with the lightest of touch.

See moments in Hackney’s history captured too, including the Second World War and the arrival of people on the Windrush.

Venue: Sutton House and Breaker’s Yard, 2 & 4 Homerton High St, London E9 6JQ. Five minutes from Hackney Central station.

Dates and Times: 11 July – 22 September: Wednesday to Sunday 12-4.30pm. 23 September – 15 November: Saturdays and Sundays 12-4.30pm
