Description

Building on last year’s success, which attracted 129 delegates, we are partnering with Freedom Festival for the second time to bring our International Showcase to the former UK City of Culture.

Taking place from 29 August – 1st September, Freedom Festival is a blend of theatre, music, comedy, poetry, outdoor spectacle and performance aimed at a wide audience of all ages, bringing renowned national and international artists to Hull while providing significant opportunities for local and regional talent. Born out of the William Wilberforce commemorations in 2007, which celebrated the bicentenary of the abolition of the slave trade led by Hull’s most famous son, the annual Freedom Festival has evolved into one of the UK’s most distinctive international arts festivals. A commitment to presenting impactful work which explores themes of freedom such as, democracy, equality and protest set it apart from other comparable festivals, celebrating the city’s unique history whilst also engaging in a global conversation around human rights.

We invite you to spend three days in the context of this ambitious festival and see a rich programme of outdoor shows, learn about new models of working and meet with others working in the industry in a professional programme that will include talks, networking and pitching sessions.
