Cheeseburn welcomes art lovers back to its Sculpture Gardens in August and September for its final open weekends of the season. Cheeseburn has enjoyed a successful 2019 open season, seeing almost 4,000 visitors explore its grounds and sculptures, which included installations from David Mach, Simon Hitchens and more. Upcoming installations feature dance performances from Maria Vincintelli, sound installations from Bennett Hogg, and sculpture work by Louise Plant and Qi Yafeng.
Says curator of Cheeseburn, Matthew Jarratt: “We are overwhelmed by the amount of visitors Cheeseburn has welcomed in 2019. We are excited to welcome more visitors on these last two weekends of the season, and hope that they enjoy performances by Maria Vincentelli, as well as our new exhibition by Louise Plant.”
With over 70 sculptures in the gardens this year, 25% of which are brand new, there is a lot to discover at Cheeseburn in August and September, including artist Erin Dickson’s glass chandelier, which is exhibited in The Stables gallery, and local business Sarah Piper Ceramics will be setting up shop on both open weekends.
Says owner of Cheeseburn, Joanna Riddell: “Cheeseburn has welcomed record numbers of visitors so far this year, and we are looking forward to welcoming our visitors back for the last 5 days for 2019. I am hugely looking forward to seeing the gallery exhibition from Louise Plant and more dance performance from Maria Vincentelli, who made a huge impact last year. Bennett Hogg will be producing another intriguing sound installation. The kitchen will soon be busy preparing more delicious homemade treats, and the gardens have certainly had enough rain! I look forward to welcoming old and new friends to Cheeseburn.”
