Mother's Day Talk (With Cream Tea), Museum of Brands & Advertising

Description

Sunday 22 March 2020 14:00.

Treat your mum to something different this Mother’s Day by joining us for a talk looking at the role of mothers in advertising. This 30 minute talk will unpack the ever-changing shape of motherhood in advertising and media; whether it’s playing family games in Edwardian times, gathering around the 1920s radio, or used as the face to promote everything from biscuits to soap and cleaning products throughout the 20th century. Inevitably, women’s liberation forms a part this narrative – from suffragettes to wartime factories, the DIY revolution to kitchen convenience. After the talk complimentary cream tea will be served in our café and award winning garden. Followed by the chance to explore the museum at your own pace.

Above all, the Museum is the place to be on Mother’s Day, giving a great opportunity to reminisce and remember family moments triggered by brands such as Spangles, Kellogg’s Country Store, Lyons Maid ice lollies, Lego, Jacky and many more.

Tickets to attend the talk cost £19 for adults, £15 for concession (students and 60+) and £9 for children aged 7-17. Talk tickets include Museum Admission and complimentary cream tea.
