In light of the current global pandemic, Take A Part have made some changes to the Coxside Carnival commission, and this call out is now live!

Take A Part and Coxside Arts Action Group (CAAG) have joined together to commission an artist or collective of artists to lead on Coxside Carnival, a community event in Plymouth. The CAAG would like to see proposals which investigate the social histories of past Coxside Carnivals, as well as co-creating new traditions with the community. The Carnival should celebrate Coxside, its diverse communities, and bring people together, whether virtually or in person in light of the pandemic.

This commission feeds into the wider art and heritage project titled Reverberations. Take A Part CIC, The Box, National Marine Aquarium, Plymouth Community Homes and Plymouth City Council are working with local primary schools, community groups and heritage and cultural advisors to explore the reverberations of Mayflower 400 by learning about undertold histories of migration. Activity takes place in the Coxside area of Plymouth - a community opposite Mayflower Steps, not normally engaging in culture and heritage with a higher than average migrant population.

Due to the fast changing nature of the situation regarding the global pandemic we have amended the call out to reflect current government guidlines around social distancing. The full call out can be found via the link below. The new deadline is midnight May 1st 2020.

Commission: Coxside Carnival
