Gathering and editing your first collection (Summer Term 2020), Live Canon

If you have written a substantial body of poems and you are starting to think about gathering them into a first collection, this course aims to support that process. We work through how to select material, give a collection cohesion and a structural arc and how to be ruthless with what you leave out.

We look at the editing of individual poems and the balance of the collection as a whole.

It is a 6 week course, hoping to guide you through this, often daunting, process.

Each week you will receive a course tutorial, via email. As well as content to read, there will be links to audio and visual content to bring the material 'off the page'. There will be (optional) tasks, and Live Canon will give written feedback on work you send us.

To give you a peer group, with which to discuss the course and tasks, we will create an online chat forum for all course participants. You can post in this at any time (so don't need to be available at specific times of the day - we want to make this course work for you, around your other life commitments).

The course costs £120.

50% discount for students and unwaged.
