Call Out: Castlefield Gallery Associates Members Exhibition, Castlefield Gallery

Deadline for proposals: 12 noon, Wednesday 26 August 2020
Exhibition dates 12 February-7 March 2021

The Castlefield Gallery Associates Members Exhibition supports members of Castlefield Gallery Associates to realise an ambitious, exciting and timely project. The selected applicant will receive a budget of £2,000 (for fees and production) as well as curatorial guidance and technical support to produce an exhibition as part of the gallery programme. The next Members Exhibition (Spring 2021) will be selected by Castlefield Gallery Curator Matthew Pendergast and our guest selector Mariama Attah, curator at Liverpool’s Open Eye Gallery.

The Members Exhibition is intended to be an opportunity for those involved to develop their practice and profile, by taking something to the next level or trying out something new. We also welcome proposals that think beyond standard exhibition formats; previously selected proposals have included: an edition of the publication Psychick Dancehall, a search for ‘free’ spaces in the ‘economic powerhouse of the north’ and an artists’ shaggy dog story.

How to Apply
Members of Castlefield Gallery Associates can submit a proposal for a solo exhibition, a curated group show or a collective project. In the case of group exhibitions or projects, at least one participating artist or writer or the curator must be a Castlefield Gallery Associate for the duration of the application process and the project. (nb.proposals should be for a fully formed exhibition; Castlefield Gallery will not curate a group exhibition from individual proposals).

Castlefield Gallery Associates is a membership scheme for artists, writers and independent curators working in contemporary art. It is aimed at artists, writers and curators consciously making and exhibiting work as part of an ongoing critical debate about the direction of contemporary art..
