Women rule! Series of acting workshops for women run by women., act up


act up’s Women rule! is an all female creative series that is run by women for women, because, let’s face it, women are absolutely awesome.  This series will run for six weeks and will be fun skills-based series where you can meet like-minded performers.The workshop areas covered and much more:

  • Voice warm up and voice exercises / production
  • Script work: breaking down scripts
  • Monologues, duologues and scene work
  • Techniques for screen and stage performances
  • Looking at works by female writers and directors
  • How to make your own work and develop your artistic voice

Run by actor:

Niamh McGowan 

Niamh is a Belfast born actor who graduated from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in 2012 on the Acting with Collaborative and Devised Theatre course. She has worked in several touring productions around the UK which included work as both an actor musician and a deviser, and has worked several times at the National Theatre since graduating. She has screen experience as an actor and also a presenter for BBC Bitesize in their online educational films. As well as following an acting career, Niamh has worked as a freelancer teaching young people public speaking and acting skills. She is a strong advocate for adult learning and loves to work with people from all walks of life.
