Augusto Boal’s Forum Theatre for actors and non-actors

A great opportunity for Romanian performers, creatives, educators and socio-cultural activists to participate in an intensive Forum Theatre workshop which will be finalised with a performance taking place at Rich Mix and Romanian Cultural Centre in London.

Also known as ‘Theatre of the Oppressed’  and created by Brazilian theatre director Augusto Boal, Forum Theatre is an applied drama technique and participatory theatre practice created to empower audience individuals to determine social change. Lead by an oppressive political and social background, Boal’s efforts consisted in establishing a dialog between audience and stage with the aim of exploring the real needs and issues of his community. The theatrical act by itself is a conscious intervention, a rehearsal for social action based on a collective analysis of shared problems of oppression.

The Intensive Forum Theatre Workshop, as part of the ‘Open Arena  – Theatre of Testimonies’ creative research platform, is designed for 30+ years old Romanian artists and creatives from all walks of life, teachers and educators, social and cultural activists, charities representatives and anyone who is going to benefit from a deep insight into applied drama techniques.

Facilitator: Anca Doczi – Theatre Artist and Forum Theatre practitioner

This workshop is made possible by support from The Ratiu Family Foundation and Rich Mix.
