The National Choreographers’ Conference, organised by DanceUK on behalf of the Choreographers’ Professional Network is the only open national event for choreographers. Anyone who is a choreographer can attend, no matter what stage you are in your career or which area you work in, whether it’s film, commercial, contemporary, West End, opera, youth choreography, choreographic teaching, etc. The theme of the conference is Choreography and Collaboration.

It offers a forum for choreographers and teachers of choreography to take part in artistic debate, air concerns and network with fellow choreographers in a non-competitive environment.

There is already a fantastic line-up of speakers (with more names still to be announced in the coming weeks).

This year, for the first time, the conference will also include sessions for individual, agencies and training / higher education institutions that are involved in Choreographic Talent Development. For the first time, the conference will end with a networking opportunity for the Choreographers to meet potential employers and individuals who manage choreographic opportunities, such as commissions, etc.

After the conference Dance UK will map and publish an overview of the issues debated and the opportunities for talent development in choreography represented at the conference to give a coherent overview of choreographic opportunities and industry issues in 2013.

Unpaid opportunities

We recognise that there is great value in people having access to proper work experience, where it is offered and arranged properly and is a mutually beneficial arrangement, but that this should never be used as a way of attempting to circumvent national minimum wage regulations. Please ensure that your posts are compliant with our terms and conditions. We reserve the right to remove any posts without further notice to you which, in our reasonable judgment, do not comply with the terms and conditions.

Internships in the arts

Arts Council and Creative & Cultural Skills have published these guidelines to help clarify the legal obligations of arts organisations offering internships.

Please note that we will not accept postings on Arts Jobs for unpaid internships unless they are part of a recognised further or higher education course.
