Stage Director, Identity School of Acting

Identity School of Acting is looking for dynamic and engaging stage directors to direct exceptional theatre productions.

At IDSA, our students perform theatrical showcases as the culmination of their academic year. Directors will work twice a week with a group of actors, with between five and six hours contact per week for around ten weeks, building on students’ grasp of performance styles and techniques and working towards a fully directed short stage production, to be performed at our theatre in Stockwell at a date between the 6th and 26th July. Exceptional candidates could have the opportunity to work with multiple groups and stage several showcases. Rehearsals will commence during the week of the 27th April.

Showcase groups are offered according to a director’s availability, and our classes run from morning to evening, seven days a week.

You will be a highly experienced stage director with a demonstrable track record of presenting professional stage productions of a high quality. Ideally, you will also have experience in teaching acting at a reputable institution.

If you would like to express your interest, please send a directing CV and cover letter to Sam Miller, Head of Acting at, ensuring that you include two professional references. Suitable candidates will be invited to deliver a trial workshop.

IDSA is a multicultural and vibrant acting school, which provides ongoing training of the highest quality whilst also preparing actors from all backgrounds for the reality of becoming a working actor. We welcome students of all levels, from beginners to professional actors.

IDSA was founded in 2003 by Femi Oguns MBE. The School was formed in response to the need for an establishment that reflects and caters for actors coming from a multi-cultural society. This year, the School celebrates its 17th birthday, with branches in both London and Los Angeles, and a newly renovated theatre in Stockwell.

Since its opening, IDSA has received an overwhelming interest from industry professionals, including casting directors and major film production companies and has become a first point of call for directors seeking talented actors.
