Commissioning Opportunity for NW Dance Artists & Companies, Dance Manchester


Dance Manchester is seeking proposals from mid-career dance artists and companies resident in the North West of England for two commissioning opportunities of £10k each.

Commission 1: To create an outdoor performance utilising dance forms of the African diaspora

Commission 2: To create a family friendly performance for libraries

Each Commission package includes:

£10k commissioning funds

Performances as part of Refract Festival, Waterside Arts, Sale, Trafford on 20th & 21st July 2018

Support to access space for creation

CPD & Mentoring support from Luca Silvestrini of Protein Dance & ACE Dance & Music

Photo Shoot & Promotional trailer development support

Some marketing and tour-booking support

Deadline for Proposals: Midnight on 29th April 2018

Shortlisted artists will be invited to interview on the 10th & 11th May 2018

This project is supported by Waterside Arts, Trafford Libraries, Sustained Theatre Up North (STUN), Dance of the African Diaspora at One Dance UK, the Arts in Libraries Cultural hub at St Helens and by using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England. 

North West of England - By this we mean Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire & Merseyside

Dance forms of the African Diaspora include: African and Caribbean Traditional Folk Dance, Dancehall, Lindy Hop, Jazz-Funk, Soca-Carnival Movement, House Dance, Tap Dancing, Reggaeton Dance Movements, Trap and Grime Movements to Hip Hop Dance
