Conductor, South London Jazz Orchestra

For the first time in its 19 year history, the South London Jazz Orchestra (SLJO) is looking for a new Conductor following the retirement of its founder Bob Bridges. As (probably) the largest regularly performing Big Band in the UK, this is an exciting chance to lead a group of dedicated and enthusiastic players in a new phase for the ensemble.

The Conductor will lead rehearsals and gigs and generally play a central part in defining the musical philosophy of the band. They will play a key role in the music selection for the band, be involved in the sourcing and acceptance of gigs and contribute to extra musical initiatives run by the band such as improvisation courses.

The role is paid on a per rehearsal/per gig basis. Rates dependent on experience.

Application is via CV and covering letter sent to by 5pm on Friday 4th May.
