St Joseph’s is a school for students (5-19) with moderate/severe learning difficulties, autistic spectrum disorder and associated problems such as speech & language and other emotional and behavioral difficulties.
Are you a practicing Artist who would welcome the challenge of working with students in both group and individual situations, helping and encouraging them to develop their artistic opportunities, fine-motor skills and creativity?
St. Josephs Specialist School is looking to employ an Artist-in-Residence to practice within their own studio in its very centre, offering specialist workshops and creative input across the curriculum.
Ideally hours of attendance will be 8.30am – 4.00pm Monday, Tuesday to Thursday 8:30am – 4:15pm and Friday 8:30am- 3:45pm during term time only (35.5 hours per week). At least 10 hours per week will be spent delivering workshops across the School.
However, there is some flexibility regarding making this post a little more part time, depending on the circumstances and commitments of the artist. Our primary concern is finding a practitioner who will fit the ethos of our institution, having the correct personality to work alongside our students.
Very occasional evening and weekend work may be required as part of these contracted hours; equally the School is prepared to allow an element of flexibility for the successful applicant to undertake other professional commitments. The salary offered includes 33 days paid holiday (inclusive of Statutory Public Holidays). Although as a general rule this holiday must be taken during School holidays, up to 5 days (consecutive or otherwise) may be taken in term time (with the equivalent amount of time being made up by either evening/weekend/School holiday working).
Requests for holiday/time off during term time will be considered in conjunction with on-going Art department projects.
