Location: Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery (travel to all BMT sites will be required)
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Loans Registrar to join our collections team at Birmingham Museums Trust, responsible for registrarial procedures relating to the loan of Birmingham Museums Trust collections nationally and internationally, including as part of major tours.
Your responsibilities will include effective communication with borrowers and lenders, producing outgoing and reviewing incoming facilities and security reports, coordinating and procuring transport agents, arranging collections insurance cover – both commercial and through government indemnity, and coordinating and undertaking courier trips.
While comfortable working independently in a challenging but rewarding role, you will be supported by and work closely with our teams of conservators, curators, technicians and wider collections staff.
You will have excellent communication and organisational skills, with significant experience as a collections Registrar working within a museum or gallery context, preferably in a Loans function. You will have a good knowledge of national and international museum standards as well as relevant legislation relating to collection loans, with proven experience of dealing with lending agreements and using collections management systems.
