BAME Live Artist (Call for Proposals), Lancaster Arts

Description

Working together with Live Art UK (the national network of Live Art promoters), Lancaster Arts is now offering a Diverse Actions commission for a new piece to premiere as part of its Winter/Spring 2019 Season.

What are we looking for?

We are seeking to commission a piece of live art which features as its primary theme ideas of ‘place’ and ‘local identity’ or the ‘felt identity of a place’. We are particularly looking forward to receiving ideas which respond to the changing identity of Lancaster as a city or to its history. We are especially interested in commissioning pieces which could be site-specific, site-responsive, developed through socially engaged methodologies and/or involve local communities in Lancaster.

Who can apply?

For this opportunity, we welcome applications by artists from a BAME background who are:

-          based in the North of England (Northumberland, Tyne & Wear, Cumbria, Durham, North Yorkshire, East Riding of Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Cheshire)

-          have 3 to 5 years of professional experience as an artist, as self defined (working within any art form, so long as your proposal is for a piece of Live Art)

What is on offer?

- A commission/artist's fee of £3,000

- A materials budget of up to £500

- A marketing and evaluation budget of up to £500

- A wealth of in kind support - see website for details
