Studio Assistant / Researcher, Cooking Sections

Cooking Sections is a duo of spatial practitioners established in 2012 to explore how the world is organised through food. Working across the visual arts, architecture and geopolitics the research-based practice creates performances, installations, exhibitions and publications. Currently working on multiple site-specific projects in the UK and abroad, we are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive freelance collaborator to join our team as studio assistant. The right candidate will be extremely responsible, self driven, and capable of delivering projects from research through development and design to production. The work will take place 3 days a week in the studio in South London with some flexibility. Periods of working from home or abroad could be negotiated.

Requirements:

  • Excellent research skills and experience in research/mapping projects. Candidates are expected to have an MA or equivalent and experience in the fields of critical theory, spatial practice, political science, history of art, architecture, design and/or ecology.

  • Highly motivated, self driven, sense of humour, responsible and able to conduct research, design, production and administrative processes.

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.

  • Excellent design skills: proficiency in CAD 2D & 3D software, Photoshop, Indesign and Illustrator. Knowledge in sound and video editing is a plus.

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English. Advanced text editing skills. Other languages desirable.

  • Basic knowledge in bookkeeping, budget management and excel.

Salary: £27k pro-rata
