Marketing & Communications Director, Making Music


We are looking for a part-time Marketing and Communications Director to develop and lead on our marketing, communications, media and income-generating strategies.

Making Music is the UK membership organisation for leisure-time music groups, with 3,400 member groups, comprising approximately 180,000 individuals. We support members with practical services to help them run their groups, and with artistic development opportunities; we facilitate meetings and events for members; we also celebrate and showcase their achievements and speak on their behalf to a range of partners, potential collaborators and policy makers.

This new role forms part of the senior management team, and we’re hoping to find someone who can help us support, stand up for and celebrate groups of people making and presenting music together in their leisure time across the UK, and make sure that Making Music grows and cements its financial sustainability in order to deliver that work. Making Music is a charity with 10 full-time equivalent staff and a turnover of approximately £600k.

We are looking for someone for 3 days a week (21 hours); these can be worked flexibly, by negotiation with the rest of the Marketing and Communications team and line manager. Salary £33k pro rata (=£19.8k a year for 3dpw). The postholder would manage and oversee the work of the Communications & Marketing Manager (full-time role) and the Marketing & Communications Officer (3 days per week).
