The SJT are launching an exciting after schools' club: SJT Creation Studios. The clubs will run from Sept 18 - July 19 across 9 local primary schools in the area (Whitby, Scarborough and Filey). Sessions will take place between 3.15 - 5.15pm. We are looking for volunteer workers to support the Artist Practitioners and Pastoral staff in the smooth running of the clubs, delivering an excellent and varied programme of arts to the young people of our local community. There are opportunities for young people volunteer workers (age 14 - 19) and adult volunteer workers.
Duties will include: Setting up and clearing the session, ensuring everyone follows the instructions and takes part in the activities and bringing any issues (behaviour, illness etc) to the attention of staff.
Each volunteer worker will be expected to commit to a minimum of one evening per week. As the clubs will run on a rota we would ask that you commit to a school rather than a specific activity. Your presence and consistency will be integral to ensuring the young people return every week.
It would be ideal for each volunteer worker to be placed within your own community and you would be expected to make your own travel arrangements to and from the school.
There will be a 6 week probationary period after which you will be invited to discuss how you have found the experience so far and if/how we will progress with your placement.
This is an excellent opportunity for volunteers to gain experience working within the arts and, most importantly, engaging and enriching their community. No previous experience necessary.
Personal Attributes: Good communication and organisation skills, puntuality, willing to take instruction, open to new experiences and meeting new people, enjoy working with children (aged 9-12), patient, motivated and committed, enjoy the arts.
To express an interest or talk about the role in more detail please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call the SJT on 01723 370541.
