Iris Theatre are an award-winning theatre company with residency at The Actor's Church in Covent Garden. Iris Theatre, has a reputation for producing vibrant and accessible site-specific and outdoor theatre. Iris gained full charity status in 2009 with a mission to support the development of the next generation of professional theatre practitioners.

Role: Interim General Manager

Hours of work: 2 days per week

£600 per month - based on £18,000 pro rata

* This is a temporary role until the end of Dec 2018 with possible extension *

Key Responsibilities:

- Day to day book-keeping and accounting for the company

- Box office & show reconcilliations

- Paying invoices and managing petty cash claims

Contracts & HR

- Create & distribute all contracts to freelance staff members

- Manage HR procedures of the organisation

- Recruitment and hiring as required

Office Management

- To be in charge of general administration for the organisation


- To assist the fundraising manager in fundriaisng for the summer 2019 productions


- To coordinate the 'Workin Process' programme of new musical theatre showcases

- To provide mentorship to emerging artists through the Workin Process programme

- To manage rotas and act as a line-manager to the box office and bar coordinator across all events at St Paul's Church

- To ensure the box office, bar and operations teams are managed and running effectively

Person Specification

- A strong understanding of the theatre industry and theatre operations

- A strong understanding on contracting

- Minimum of 2 years in theatre administration

- Strong finance knowledge and book-keeping skills

- Experience working in theatre operations or managing theatre operations either front of house, bars or box office


- Knowledge of using Ticketsolve or equivalent box office system

- Experience in fundraising for a theatre charity

- Experience producing mid-scale theatre

- Experience working with volunteers and emerging artists
