Project Manager, The British Museum


The British Museum’s Information Services department is seeking a skilled Project Manager to help support the Enterprise Architecture team’s transformational planning and execution. The role will involve managing projects across a diverse selection of discrete projects stretching from curatorial to commercial operations where improvement opportunities present themselves.

This exciting role involves the coordination and planning of technology projects from initiation through to delivery. Stakeholder and vendor management are important parts of the role that will include risk and issue management, influencing leadership committees and managing project costs and timelines. Additionally, there will be some autonomous working, workshop facilitation and coordinating testing teams required within the role.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Leading small project teams including Business Analysts, Product Owners and Technical Leads to deliver operational improvements and pilots throughout the Museum
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal stakeholders to manage project plans and schedules, RAID logs, updates to governance boards and closure reports

Person specification:

The ideal candidate will be educated to degree level, or with equivalent experience, and will have a recognised project management qualification at foundation level or higher. The role will require outstanding relationship building, commercial and written communication skills, and will be comfortable communicating with all levels of the organisation. Excellent planning, negotiation, coordination and communication skills will be essential to the role.
