We are looking for a new, creative, inspiring leader to take on the role of Chief Executive Officer of Stitches in Time, who has a proven track record working within the charity sector, and can lead our charity in its continued growth.
Who we are
Stitches in Time is a welcoming, local arts charity, established in 1993 and embedded in our community. We use the arts to create an inclusive, cohesive Tower Hamlets. More than just sewing, the support we offer starts with developing creative skill, but wraps around to support the ranging needs and aspirations of our beneficiaries.
What we do
We deliver a core scheme of education & community arts programmes, public commissions and training courses in visual arts and textiles. Small, but wide-reaching, we engage with over 2,000 people annually, using creative projects as a focus for enhancing skill, integration, confidence and community development.
You’ll be responsible for managing the charity as a whole, from leading and implementing strategic planning, to ensuring smooth daily running of projects, and a busy, well-loved studio. You will have vast experience in working with a range of people, sensitive to the needs of those we work with. You’ll be able to support, motivate, inspire and empower our staff, volunteers, and beneficiaries.
You are organised, commercially astute, can demonstrate strategic thinking and manage multiple budgets, cash-flow and projects simultaneously.
You have experience in streamlining operations, monitoring performance and risk. You will have a proven track record in fundraising- through grants, independent donors, charitable activities and campaigns. You understand the financial diligence needed to run a small charity, and can lead creative, inspirational projects and enterprises on often, small budgets.
Creative, experienced in working on, commissioning and/or delivering community arts and engagement programmes, you are passionate about the benefits the arts can have on a range of people, knowledgeable about textiles, sewing and East London communities. Kind, patient and welcoming, you thrive meeting and working with new people.
