Board Member, Handstand Arts CIO

Handstand Arts CIO is a brand new arts organisation, Circus City is our flagship project -

Circus City is a city-wide festival in Bristol that has run for 3 weeks every two years since 2015. The festival hosts a varied programme of international, UK and local artists and aims to inspire both our audiences and our circus community.

CIO stands for Charitable Incorporated Organisation which is a form of legal entity of a non-profit organisation. Our fledgling board has been meeting for just over half a year now and we are keen to bring some new people to the table. This small organisation is just at the start of a period of growth and change and new board members will come with us on that journey.

We are keen to hear from people with a broad range of backgrounds and knowledge and are particularly seeking applications from people with marketing, legal, fundraising/ philanthropy experience and charity law knowledge.

We will meet every 3 months in Bristol, board members who can’t attend the meetings can join us remotely (eg. via Skype). Once a year we will spend a morning or afternoon together.

In order to be on the board we ask that you commit a minimum of 3 hours a month towards the organisation outside of meetings, read the board papers before each meeting, attend as many meetings as you can, respond to emails from the director and keep informed about the responsibilities of being a trustee of a CIO.

To apply to join the board please send your CV and a few paragraphs about yourself and why you are interested in working with Handstand to hello(@) before 8th March.

If you would like more information or an informal chat before applying please email us with your number and we’ll call you back.

We look forward to hearing from you!
