Description

I’m looking for a producer to work with me on my solo show “Wild Country” - an intimate, absurd one person exploration of motherhood, exile and transformation that combines stand-up with new writing.

An ACE supported project in development supported by Arts Depot, Folkestone Quarterhouse, CPT and BAC.

Successful in our second round of R&D funding, upcoming performances include slots at Quarterhouse Folkestone, Pulse Festival, Ipswich.

The creative team includes director Kirsty Housley (The Encounter; I’m a Phoenix Bitch) and dramaturg Annie Siddons (How Not to Live in Suburbia; Raymondo).

“Edith’s performance was captivating, the writing superb…at different moments I was laughing out loud & squirming in my seat.”
Bethany Haynes - Senior Producer BAC

I'm a mid-career theatre artist (& mother) specialising in original & playful, devised work.
 Previous work includes:

-Emma Rice’s production of a Midsummer Night's Dream at Shakespeare's Globe
-Kneehigh Theatre's Hansel and Gretel National Tour

-Title role, Rapunzel at National Tour and on Broadway,
-Collaborating w/Emma Rice for BAC’s One to One Festival creating a unique solo performance.

As a director:

-Co-wrote & directed solo show ‘Nearly Lear’, based on King Lear which has performed on Broadway, Kennedy Center, Sydney Opera House, and won the International Performance Arts for Youth Victor Award for Outstanding Production
-ACE funded 'The Archivists'  presented at BAC, Folkestone Quarterhouse’s Festival of the Brain, & Wilderness Festival.

‘Wild Country’ is a personal piece that addresses issues women in caring roles face - be it with children or elderly parents - shifting identities, geographical & cultural isolation and loneliness, to name a few.

I'm looking to work with a Producer who is interested in these themes & in giving visibility to parents/carers who are mid career artists.

The role includes strategising, building partnerships, managing budgets and cash flow, establishing  fundraising strategy and establishing partnerships for future touring.
