Press Officer, Gillian McVey


Central London PR agency specialised in visual arts, design and culture.

Seeking an enthusiastic and motivated arts PR to work directly with internationally acclaimed artists and manage comms activities for a range of national and international contemporary visual arts exhibitions, artists, publications, and projects.

Clients include Philippe Parreno,  Tim Walker, Studio Voltaire, Cork Street Galleries and Booth-Clibborn Editions.

The ideal candidate will have a keen interest and knowledge across the arts and contemporary culture as well as a wide interest in and understanding of the current media landscape in print and online.

Responsibilities include:

  • Devising, implementing and overseeing national & international strategic PR campaigns

  • Creating press releases, media lists and publicity plans

  • Securing, analysing and distributing editorial coverage across all media platforms

  • Preparing and distributing communications documents and activity reports

  • Organising and managing PR events, photocalls and private views

  • Developing and maintaining a close relationship with clients and artists’ studios, liaising with institutions and galleries regarding press and marketing-related enquiries, nationally and internationally

  • Liaising with clients to maintain excellent working relationships

  • Building great working relationships with UK and international media

  • Training and line-managing interns and assistants as required

  • Managing press trips and budgets

  • Travelling to international events to manage on-site press office and press trips as required

Essential qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as arts & cultural PR

  • A genuine and demonstrable passion for arts and culture

  • A proven track-record delivering arts PR campaigns

  • Strong contacts and long-lasting relationships in the UK and international media

  • Ability to create and implement ambitious press campaigns

  • Proven experience in managing high end client relationships & campaigns

  • Superb written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent organisation and time management

  • Attention to detail, with strong copywriting and editing skills

  • Determined, proactive, and works well under pressure in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience of working with external stakeholders and partners

  • Flexible approach to work; ability to attend evening and weekend events
