Assistant Practitioner, Harrow Youth Theatre, Harrow Arts Centre


Harrow Arts Centre's Youth Theatre is currently looking for an Assistant Practitioner. The Youth Theatre has been running since 2012 and seeks to offer children and young people from Harrow to learn new skills, meet likeminded people and get involved in termly theatrical projects/performances. We continue to grow and evolve the programme, and are currently offering youth theatre participants the opportunity to take part in Arts Award. The arts centre will also be applying for the National Theatre ‘Connections’ programme, which will enable the Assistant Practitioner to support the management of this project and have the opportunity to work and train with  the National Theatre’s outreach programme.


  1.  Assist the Lead Practitioner with the delivery of inspiring workshops with a termly theme or genre specifically aimed at developing the devising and performance skills of young people aged 7-16.

  2.  Support participants to take part in the planned activities, including offering feedback, practical help and guidance.

  3.  Discuss project plans with the Senior Programmer and Participation Programmer at the beginning of each term to ensure that that the activities align with the overall participation vision for HAC.

  4.  Assist in providing participants with information signposting them on to future opportunities and progression routes as appropriate.

  5.  Work with other HAC staff to evaluate activities and assist in obtaining participant feedback.

  6.  Keep a register each week on behalf of the Participation Programmer, which comply with the Arts Centre’s GDPR policies and national regulations.

  7.  Work within HAC’s Safeguarding, Health and Safety and Equal Opportunities policies.

We are looking for someone who has experience of sharing skills with others and sensitivity in helping children and young people take part in activities.
