Development Assistant, Dulwich Picture Gallery


Purpose of Job  


To support the Development team in the day-to-day functions of a busy fundraising department through effective and efficient administration. The post-holder will support team members in maintaining relationships with supporters across Corporate, Trusts and Foundations, and Individual Giving revenue streams.

Main tasks and Responsibilities

Information Management – Tessitura


  • Responsible for the management of Tessitura and contribution to the Gallery’s strategy around data capture and analysis

  • Work with various other departments in the Gallery to ensure the smooth running of Tessitura

  • Produce reports and analysis from Tessitura for the Head of Development and other senior staff

  • Responsible for the timely and accurate record keeping and financial information on Tessitura

  • Maintain a unified system on Tessitura to effectively administer Development Department records, including data input, gift tracking, management reporting and prospect management

  • Work with the Finance Department to ensure accurate financial reporting and Gift Aid

  • Training staff and act as a point of contact for all staff with enquiries on Tessitura



  • Manage and record all income records and reporting

  • Administer the income and reporting for American Friends of Dulwich Picture Gallery and Canadian Friends of Dulwich Picture Gallery

  • Compile financial reports for DPG Board meetings

  • Responsible for collecting, recording and processing Development invoices and expenses


  • Guest list coordination

  • Support Development team and Head of Events with planning and delivery of events, in particular Patron events and exhibition openings

  • Attend meetings where appropriate

  • Support the Development Department in all other fundraising activities


Prospect Research


  • Research potential supporters (Individuals, Organisations and Trusts and Foundations) for specific projects

  • Create and present research notes on all individuals who attend Gallery events

  • Research and write briefing notes for members of staff on individuals or organisations as required




  • Manage the department’s central crediting spreadsheet ensuring that all supporters are credited effectively

  • Draft thank you letters for Development department for gifts

  • Where appropriate design materials for fundraising purposes

  • Ensure Development Department leaflets and the website section are kept up to date
