Description

The National Youth Jazz Orchestra (NYJO) is seeking a dynamic and experienced communications professional to build on recent success and enhance NYJO’s position as one of the most respected and effective organisations in the arts and music education in the UK.


NYJO has undergone a huge period of change in recent years with the development of artistic policy, expansion of its education work around the country, and increase in turnover from c. £150k to around £700k.


The Head of Communications will work with the staff, Music Directors and Trustees to build on recent developments and help NYJO further increase its national impact. NYJO has ambitious plans for the future and the successful candidate will take a central role in shaping the organisation’s progress and development.

The main purpose of this role is to lead NYJO’s communications. Alongside creatively communicating NYJO’s charitable objectives it is essential that the Head of Communications effectively communicates with young people, inspiring their engagement in jazz and broadening the conversation.  As part of NYJO’s senior management team, the role holder has responsibility for all communications and marketing functions, where there is significant scope for the role-holder to increase NYJO’s visibility and raise the organisation’s profile.
