We are looking for bright and enthusiastic volunteers to join our exceptional Film Production Crew at the next edition of HowTheLightGetsIn London which runs from 21st-22nd September 2019.
HowTheLightGetsIn is a unique annual festival of ideas, music and comedy. Now 10 years on since its foundation, HTLGI has established a strong reputation for attracting the best thinkers from around the world, including Ed Miliband, Noam Chomsky, Steven Pinker, Brian Eno, Diane Abbott and Kimberle Crenshaw. Every talk and debate from the festival is filmed, before being edited and released online at iai.tv and on Youtube for a rapidly-growing online audience.
Successful candidates will be asked to be available from 20 September as well, for a full day’s training before the festival starts. Successful candidates will form part of a film crew that produces over 100 hours of broadcast footage. Your primary responsibilities will be recording the festival’s signature live debates and talks. This will include experience of live camera work, lighting, venue set up and audio recording. There will also be opportunities to film concerts, parties and comedy, contributing towards the HowTheLightGetsIn Festival Highlights Trailer (2019).
In exchange for your time, and in addition to covering your expenses, we will provide in-depth training into audio-visual recording in a live setting. Successful applicants will receive a stipend of £40 to cover travel and food costs, as well as 50% off at all festival vendors.
All applicants should have a good educational background, and a keen interest in filming and digital technology. You will also need to demonstrate that you are able to work and excel in fast-paced environments. For those who enjoy this experience, you will become part of our talent pool for future events that we run throughout the year, with a chance to progress to more senior roles.
If you think you have what it takes, please send your CV and Cover Letter (max 300 words) to email@example.com stating ‘Film Production Festival Volunteer ” in the subject line.
