Deputy Director of
Technical Training, Full-time
Up to £50,000 per annum, depending on experience
We are looking for a talented individual who can deputise for the Director of all technical training but has a particular history in stage management. The role holder will lead in all pedagogical aspects of the Stage Management strand within the training. Other key duties will be chairing interview panels, taking responsibility for a year group (up to 30 students) at tutorial level, and playing a key role in the area of professional development.
This role requires a proactive, agile working style and someone who is able to work effectively autonomously and collaboratively. The successful candidate will have an extensive knowledge of the theatre production process and an extensive background in stage management. They will also have excellent communication and negotiation skills, a supportive and helpful attitude and be able to motivate a team, as well as advise individual students in their career choices.
RADA’s Technical Theatre and Stage Management two year Foundation Degree programme has (since 2011) expanded and developed its 3rd year completion year programme, which takes the qualification to a BA. As this third year has become increasingly popular, and as other areas of training and associated staff have been added to the programme (e.g. Digital Design, Technical Management), it has become necessary to find support for the Director of Technical Training. As the programme has allowed for more areas of specialisation, it has also become imperative to emphasise that Stage Management remains a core activity and career option for many of our students.
